we had 2 major history things to see and do in berlin.
the first one was world war 2 things, specifically the german part of that. here are some sobering scenes from the holocaust memorial and "topographie des terrors."
first one is the 'Denkmal fuer ermordeten Juden Europas', if I spelt that right... means the monument or rememberance to murdered Jews of Europe. It kind of looks like a whole lot of gravestones, but there are no meanings to the number of stones or the heights or anything.
the second one is underground - under this monument... there is a museum about the fate of the jews during the nazi time. Roza Schechter was one woman killed during the time - in this room stories are perpetually read out... little bios, about individuals who were killed, both in German and English. She was one of the people we heard about.
